G8Check (pronounced “gate-check”) has partnered with the LA Opera to assist them in developing a Health Safety Strategy. G8Check is a Health & Safety Protocol Management company that specializes in understanding the specific challenges in the entertainment industry. We at G8Check consider everyone associated with this community to be a partner in our collective efforts to make each day at work a safe one. We respectfully ask that you cooperate with our staff and understand that we truly are “all in this together” and that we consider your health & safety our utmost priority.

PPE

Please arrive wearing a face covering…at least a cloth mask. Please remember to maintain at least 6′ of separation at all times and follow the directions for check in at location. All cast and crew will be invited to fill out their pre-work survey to via email. You’ll find the link in the email that directed you here. By filling out this survey ahead of time, the process of getting on set will be made faster, and the team will be able to more easily distance from one another. 

Everyone must provide this basic information as a prerequisite to reporting for work…either digitally or verbally on site. Once receipt of your pre-work survey is confirmed, temperatures will be taken, and the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment and badge will be provided. Your badge must be visible at all times. A mask with a .95 rating that should be worn at all times unless one’s job absolutely prohibits that. Any exception to this plan will be clearly defined in a separate email that will originate from the LAO team specifically.  

THERE WILL BE NO SHARING OF FOOD OR COMMUNAL FOOD/DRINK/COFFEE. LA OPERA WILL PROVIDE LUNCH TO BE CONSUMED IN A DESIGNATED BREAK AREA, MINDING SOCIAL DISTANCING PROTOCOLS. 

ZONES

Upon check in, all team members will be separated into zones. Most everyone will be placed in the green zone. Only brass and wind performers, sound and representatives from production/artistic that need to be 6 feet or less away from talent will be placed in the blue zone. Everyone else in the green zone will be asked to maintain at least 12 feet of distance from anyone in the blue zone. Blue zone members will be asked to wear both a mask and face shield when working with any talent who is unmasked.

After unmasked singing, anyone outside of the performers present will need to wait 60 minutes before entering any space that has potentially been contaminated.

BE ADVISED – STAY 12′ AWAY FROM PERSONNEL NOT IN YOUR ZONE (ie: Blue or Green)

MEALS

LA Opera will provide lunch for crew & dinner for crew, staff, and singers. Meals must be consumed outside in the designated break area. Green Zone Crew & Staff as well as Blue Zone Crew will be served on the Grand Avenue colonnade, in the designated break area.

GREEN ZONE RESTROOMS

All Green Zone Crew, Staff, and Stage Management are permitted to use the single occupancy restroom located off the Stage Left wing. Green Zone Crew, Staff, and Stage Management may use the ground floor restrooms located in the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion.

BLUE ZONE RESTROOMS

All Blue Zone Crew members will use the Blue Zone restroom located off of the Stage Right wing. Blue Zone crew members may also use the Blue Zone restrooms located on the basement level of the DCP (women’s chorus dressing rooms & men’s orchestra restrooms).  

PPE

All PPE will be supplied to every team member by LAO / G8 Check Health & Safety. We ask that every team member wear the provided Air Queen mask at all times. Only chorus members should be working without a mask, under specific instructions. Hand washing is expected to commence on an hourly basis. Personal hand sanitizer of at least 60% alcohol will be made available for all. Face shields will also be distributed to all blue zone members. Anyone working in close proximity to anyone unmasked will be asked to wear both a face shield and a mask. Anyone forced to work without a mask will wear at least a shield whenever possible. Please refer to the LAO protocols and safety video for more on PPE.

BADGES

Upon assignment of your Zone Badge, it must be worn at all times, and be visible while on location. Badges will be collected at the end of each day. Your badge represents your commitment to protocol compliance and allowed entry to set. Non-compliance with safety protocols will result in badge removal and prompt dismissal.

CHECK-OUT

You will check-out at the end of the day and return your badge to LAO / G8 Check Health & Safety. Your assigned end-of-day check-out station will be where you were assigned to check-in at the beginning of the day.

HEALTH SAFETY OFFICER

The Covid Compliance Officer, Chelsea Rector, is the lead of the Health and Safety Department at your workplace. Your Employer has assigned the CCOs to make sure that everyone in your workplace is adhering to the protocols of the Health Safety Plan. The training and certifications that your CCOs have received qualifies them as Covid-19 Compliance Officers (C19CO).
